While The Academy may have conveniently left out people of colour and women from this year's nominations, therefore, keeping their reputation intact, they have hit the bullseye with 11 Oscar nominations for the movie JOKER.
The 'Silver Linings Playbook' actor, Bradley Cooper, who has co-produced Joker feels the film's writer-director Todd Phillips is a visionary.
The psychological thriller follows the story of Batman's biggest enemy Joker. This is the first time we get to see the backstory of the iconic villain, played by the talented Joaquin Pheonix. Arthur Flex aka Joker is a failed stand-up comedian who descends into insanity after being failed by the world on multiple occasions. He inspires a cultural revolution against the rich and privileged that results in the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne--the parents of Batman.

Joker got 11 Oscar nominations in the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. categories. Other nominations include cinematography, adapted screenplay, costume design, sound mixing, sound editing, original score, film editing, and make-up and hairstyling.

One of the biggest highlights of 2019, Joaquin's Joker has become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time by crossing the USD 1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. Reportedly, a sequel is in the works.
