NEW DELHI: The total tally of coronavirus cases in India finally crossed the 2 lakh mark on Tuesday, June 2. Turns out, more than one lakh were found to be COVID-19 positive in the last 15 days. Although the government has stated that the precautionary measures which are being taken to stop the spread of the virus have been quite effective as the death toll is still very low compared to all the other countries.
The officials also mentioned that the COVID-19 recovery rate has shown improvement on a consistent level in India along with the fact that the country is in a much better position in terms of handling the pandemic. On a global level, more than 63 lakh fell pray to the coronavirus since it emerged in China during December of last year (2019). As much as 3.7 lakh individuals have lost their lives since then.

As per the daily morning update by the website of Union Health Ministry, the fatality rate rose to 5,598 as 204 deaths occurred due to the virus in the last 24 hours. A total of 8,171 fresh cases were also detected in the duration of the last 24 hours. The total tally of coronavirus cases in India now stands at 2,07,615.
On the bright side, the recovered patients also crossed the 1 lakh mark as there are currently 1,00,302 individuals who have been cured of the virus. Hence, there are 1,01,497 active coronavirus cases on a nationwide level.

It was in Kerala, that the first COVID-19 case got detected on January 30. The coronavirus tally took 110 days to reach the 1 lakh mark. The other 1 lakh cases were observed in merely 15 days!
