2 Passengers Dead In Shramik Express Headed Towards Varanasi

VARANASI: Two passengers who had boarded a Shramik Special train were found dead on the morning of Wednesday, May 27 when the train reached Manduadih railway station situated in Varanasi all the way from Mumbai.

The passengers who lost their lives were found by the railway staff when the rest of the passengers got off from the train and it was taken to the yard for carrying out the procedure of cleaning and sanitization.

The bodies were taken into possession once the Government Railway Police was contacted.

Later on, one of the deceased was identified as Dashrath Prajapati. He was 20 years old and physically challenged. He was returning to his home in Badlapur situated within Jaunpur. The other individual who departed has not been identified yet.

Government Railway Police's DSP Akhilesh Rai mentioned that Prajapati's family had come to receive the body. He said the formalities are being taken care of in order to send the body for post-mortem reports.

The Shramik Express which both the passengers boarded started from the Lokmanya Tikal terminal located in Mumbai.

The government decided to run Shramik Special trains in order to help the migrant labourers who lost their jobs as the nationwide lockdown got initiated to stop the coronavirus spread.

The special trains by now have been successful in helping over lakhs of migrants daily wagers reach their respective hometowns and villages.
