MUMBAI: It is utterly a sad day for Bollywood as trailblazing actor Irrfan Khan breathed his last today on 29 April. He was admitted at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital situated in Mumbai due to a colon infection. He was only 53.
Homi Adajania's 'Angrezi Medium' was one of his last projects. He starred in it alongside Radhika Madan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranvir Shorey, Pankaj Tripathi, Deepak Dobriyal and Dimple Kapadia.
The entire team remembered the actor and wrote soul-stirring condolences on their official social media handles.
Kareena Kapoor Khan who got the chance to work with Irrfan in the film, at last, took to Instagram to share a behind the scenes photograph from the sets of the film. She wrote, 'It was an absolute honour, sir. Rest in peace.'
In a heart-wrenching caption, director Homi Adajania expressed it all when he said, "We laughed about you dying... in fact, we often abused your “uninvited guests” .... but I didn’t think I’d feel so fuckin broken when I heard what I was expecting to hear for a while now. I am eternally grateful for walking a few steps of your journey with you. I am eternally grateful that I could call myself your friend. I am eternally grateful for memories stuffed with so much joy, so much laughter in such little time. You once told me how you had an inexplicable love for your craft, but didn’t want the stardom anymore. Well, you never needed to be a star, my friend, because you shone brighter than anything in the universe. RIP #irrfan."
Along with it, the director uploaded a picture where Irrfan can be seen hugging the filmmaker very affectionately.
Radhika Madan who portrayed the role of Khan's daughter in the recent release seemed to not process the woeful news. In her caption, she expressed her gratitude and condolences by saying, "I don't know what to say... my heart aches when I write this. He was one of the strongest people I knew, a fighter. I am really grateful that our paths crossed in this lifetime. He is and will always be an inspiration to me and many. A legend. The man who changed the wave of the Indian film industry. May his soul rest in peace. Love you Irrfan sir. It was a privilege knowing you."
Ranveer Shorey also expressed his condolences via a tweet,
He’s gone too soon and left a vacuum that cannot be filled. One of the kindest and gentlest people I’ve ever met. Will forever cherish the moments spent with him. Rest in peace, Irrfan bhai. Love and respect. 🙏🏽— Ranvir Shorey (@RanvirShorey) April 29, 2020
Kiku Sharda who also featured in the film in a supporting role shared kind words for the actor, "
It was an honour meeting him, knowing him, working with him, being around him and seeing how he does what he does so effortlessly. I wish I could have more of him, we could have more of him. Will miss #irrfankhan sir, the man, the talent, the LEGEND. RIP. (sic)”
Beloved actor Pankaj Tripathi also took to Instagram to share a sincere message for the actor. He wrote in Hindi, "कभी कभी भावनाओं को बता पाना सम्भव नही होता, वही हो रहा है इरफ़ान दा।🙏🏾"
