MUMBAI: As much as he wants to see MS Dhoni in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar feels that it is highly unlikely.
Talking to Dainik Jagran, Gavaskar said, "I would definitely like to see Dhoni in India's World Cup squad but it's highly unlikely that it is going to happen."
He further assessed that the former Indian captain will be retiring silently. Suni said, "I would definitely like to see Dhoni in India's World Cup squad but it's highly unlikely that it is going to happen."
MS Dhoni, 38, has remained an integral part of the Men in Blue squad. The whole country eagerly wants the legend to get a place in the T20 squad that is scheduled to be played in October-November in Australia. Dhoni was last seen on the field in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2019 and since then he has been on self-sabbatical. He, however, will be seen playing the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Head coach Ravi Shastri had also once mentioned that Dhoni's future in the T20 WC will be basing on his IPL performance.
Speaking about the IPL 2020, it has been postponed to 15th April from 29th March in the wake of coronavirus outbreak in India. Dhoni even arrived at Chennai to prep for the event but had to leave midway because of the infection that has claimed over 11,000 lives globally.
