After India's star shuttler P.V Sindhu clinched the gold medal in BWF World Championships, twitter goes wild and started wishing the golden girl. Prime Minister Narendra Modi leads the list, which also includes politicians, former shuttlers and Bollywood stars.
"This is my answer to the people who questioned me over and over. I just want to answer my critics with my racket and with this win"
Apart from World Championship medal, the 24-year-old is also one of the two Indian shuttlers to ever win an Olympic medal. Other one is Saina Nehwal.
Sindhu, employee of Bharat Petroleum since July 2013, scripted history by becoming the first Indian to win World Championship title, defeating Japanese player Nozomi Okuhara.
The Hyderabadi shuttler, who was ranked seventh in Forbes' list of "Highest-Paid Female Athletes 2018", credited his coach for her win.
"I really focused this time and of course, now I have a new coach -- Miss Kim. I've been training under her for the past couple of months and certainly, I have improved a lot under her. I am really very thankful to her," Teary eyed Sindhu told reporter after the match.
Coach Kim Ji-Hyun praised the Indian shuttler for her brilliant work on the court.
"Sindhu’s powerful and has a good physique, but I feel she has to develop more skills.. Step by step. We’re working on skills, and changing tactics, as you can’t use the same tactics over and over again," he said.
