Kobe Bryant’s Wife Makes First Public Comment Since Tragic Crash

26 January was a tragic day as the world woke up to the devastating news of the passing of Kobe Bryant in a helicopter crash. His 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, who shared his enthusiasm and talent for sports was in the same crash and was killed along with 7 others.

That day Vanessa Bryant lost her husband and daughter, a pain that cannot be described. While friends and fans were shattered, nobody could begin to fathom the pain Vanessa must be going through.

On Wednesday, Vanessa Bryant made her first public statement since the chopper crash that killed her husband of 19 years, Kobe, one of her daughters, and seven others. “Thank you for all the prayers. We definitely need them,” she said.

She took to her official Instagram account to thank people for their support and love during this tragic time.  She also announced a fund set up to help the families that were affected by the crash.

“We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband, Kobe — the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna — a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia, Bianka, and Capri. We are also devastated for the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday, and we share in their grief intimately.”

In the emotional post, she further wrote, “There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now,” Vanessa Bryant wrote. “I take comfort in knowing that Kobe and Gigi both knew that they were so deeply loved. We were so incredibly blessed to have them in our lives. I wish they were here with us forever. They were our beautiful blessings taken from us too soon.”

This was the first statement from the Bryant family after the helicopter crash. The comment section was flooded with support and condolences from friends, family, and fans.

The NBA star and his wife would have celebrated their 19th marriage anniversary this April. They share four daughters, including Gianna-- Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and 7-month-old Capri.
