Childhood traumas stay with you until adult life. Something that may have happened to you as a child may be an indication of your behaviour today. While most 9-year-olds are living a protected life of comfort, ice creams, and loving parents, one particular child is dealing with a cocaine-addicted mother.
A disturbing video where a 9-year-old boy is slapping his mother in an attempt to "wake her up" is doing the rounds on different social media sites. Allegedly, the little boy found his mother high on cocaine on the street. The boy, visibly distraught, is screaming "Mommy, wake up. Can you talk to me? Wake up" while the mother blankly stares back at him, prompting him to slap her more than once.
There are other people in the video, including a toddler, but their identity and roles in the child's life are unclear. Purely on the basis of assumption, the desperation in the boy's screams indicates this is not the first time he is finding his mother in this state.
We can only pray for things to get better in their collective lives. No child must be put through this trauma of having a parent pseudo-present in their lives.
UPDATE: This is an old video and we sincerely hope the boy is doing well now. The video resurfaced online on 10 Dec as a "recent event".
