Total Coronavirus Case Tally Rise To 21,393 In India; Death Toll At 681

NEW DELHI: The total tally of coronavirus cases in the country has risen to 21,393 and the death toll is 681. In the past day, 1,409 new cases got reported from all over the country with 41 fatalities as well, as per the figures released by the Ministry of Health. However, there are approximately 4,257 individuals that have made a recovery after being affected by the life-endangering virus. This means, there are around 16,454 active cases for COVID-19 in India.

Maharashtra continues to be the state which has the most cases. It has over 5000 cases and 269 deaths. Gujarat recently crossed the 2000 mark and is now the second most affected state with 2,407 cases. It's followed by Delhi, which has 2,248 cases. Then comes Tamil Nadu with 1,629, Rajasthan has 1,890 cases, Madhya Pradesh is at 1,592, Uttar Pradesh has found 1,449 cases and Telangana has 945 cases.

Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister will soon be holding a video conferencing meeting with chief ministers on Monday, 27 April. The last meeting got scheduled on 11 April, where the majority of chief ministers were seen being in the favour of extending the national lockdown imposed by the PM from 24 March to 15 April. After that, an official announcement came from PM Modi where he declared the new extended date for the lockdown to be 3 May 2020.

Apart from India, USA has become the epicentre for the novel coronavirus as it has more than 8.4 lakh cases and its death toll has crossed 46,500.
