Hyderabad: The recent horrific incident where a 26-year-old veterinarian doctor from Hyderabad was brutally raped and murdered has left the nation weeping. The society is losing faith in the judicial system as 2012's Nirbhaya rapists continue to live, eat, and breathe in the jail with no death penalty in sight. People, outraged at the audacity of these murderers have taken to streets demanding capital punishment.

Chilling details from that fateful night continue to make its way to mainstream media that are disturbing, scarring and will leave you helpless at the plight of women in our country. As per the report of the case submitted to the court on Saturday, the four accused continued to rape the veterinary doctor inside the cabin of a lorry even after she had died. They forcibly poured liquor in the victim’s mouth while sexually assaulting her. Abominable doesn't nearly describe these men who are big black blotches on humanity.

Mohammad alias Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen and Chennakeshavulu - took close to one hour from the time they dragged Priyanka into the open plot, forced her to consume whiskey mixed with a soft drink, hit her on the head, raped and killed her. After brutally murdering her, they dumped her body in the truck cabin and continued raping her one after the other.

According to a police report, Priyanka reddy was crying for help, but the 4 accused showed her no mercy.

They kept driving on the National Highway towards Shadnagar, in search of dark patches to dispose of the body. They then decided to burn the corpse so that her identity would not be found.

People from all over the country are urging the government for a speedy justice before the country loses yet another daughter to this inhuman crime. Human Rights are for humans they say, but these four men are not humans. They deserve no mercy.

When the worst thing that happens to these atrocious men is just imprisonment, women are left constantly looking over their shoulders in case a demon is lurking behind the shadows, waiting to show his human face. Women are not free in their own country. Is India then, truly independent?
