NEW DELHI: Former NDTV journalist and National Political Editor of Hindustan Times, Sunetra Choudhury was at the receiving end of criticism after calling the installation of a shankh (conch) at Delhi Airport 'ugly'.

Taking it to her Twitter account, the journalist claimed that the conch looked uglier than the carpet and requested the authority to remove it. She wrote, "Oh my dear lord @DelhiAirport, this is even uglier than the carpet. Please remove."

Soon after she presented her opinion on the beautification of the mentioned airport, users were quick to criticize her as they thought she directly targetted at the religious sentiments of Hindus. They labeled it as a Hinduphobic tweet and brutally trolled her.

While some compared her this vision to her earlier one where she called Humayun's Tomb beautiful, many hit her below the belt and brought Sunetra's look in the whole scenario. See some of the reactions here:

The conch was installed in the month of October last year at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport as a part of making the Delhi Airport look more beautiful. What makes it prettier is its rotating feature along the vertical axis.
