Srinagar: A terrorist from Lashkar-e-Taiba was arrested from a hospital in Srinagar on Saturday morning. He was recognised as Nisar Ahmad Dar, who is a resident of Bandipora district in North Kashmir.
Dar has been arrested from Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital in Srinagar by the Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Informing about his arrest, the Jammu and Kashmir Police officer Imtiaz Hussain took to Twitter to share a photograph of the LeT terrorist. He said, “One terrorist arrested by J&K police and security forces. He had escaped from an encounter in which one Pakistani Terrorist of prescribed terror outfit was killed. The terrorist was wanted in many terror crimes.”
Nisar Ahmed is 23-year-old and was active for the past few years as a militant. He was in the wanted list of security forces and is a categorised militant in security establishment's database.
Involved in 8 cases including seven in 2016 and one in 2019, Dar was detained twice under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act. He is said to be an associate of Salim Parray, a top militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
According to the security forces, the terrorist was planning to carry out attacks on some security force establishment and was caught alive in an operation launched on Friday night by the forces.
A senior police officer from Jammu and Kashmir police stated, "On a specific information that a listed and wanted militant was hiding somewhere in Srinagar and planning an attack on security forces, the operation was launched on Friday night by the Srinagar police along with local security forces in which the militant was caught alive along with arms and ammunition. Dar is being interrogated by the police officials."
