Group Of Healthcare Workers And Police Attacked In Moradabad

MORADABAD: A group of police officials and healthcare workers got attacked in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, 15 April. The group was going to pick a coronavirus patient and his family.

The incident that took place in Nawabpura resulted in several healthcare and police officials getting severely injured. Stone pelting was also carried out which resulted in an ambulance being damaged along with 4 other vehicles.

As per the reports, an individual by the name of Sartaj had been feeling unwell and was admitted to a hospital nearby Tirthankar Mahavir University.

When tested for COVID-19, he was found to be positive. The samples got collected and sent on 9 April and the results came on 13 April. He died on the same night.

The family members of the individual were also being quarantined in the IFTM University.

A team of healthcare officials and police when to the residence of Sartaj to pick up his younger brother, who was feeling sick.

Just when the officials reached his residence, nearby people began showing up from their houses and gathering at one spot, while trying to stop the officials from taking the rest of the family members with them.

Despite the police and medial representatives trying to explain the crowd, the local residents lost their cool and began attacking them violently.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh has taken an action regarding the gruesome incident and instructed the district officials to arrest the accused people under the National Security Act.

ADG (Law and order) P.V. Ramasastry, talked about the matter and mentioned, "We will take very strict action against those involved in this incident."
