PM Modi Condoles The Death Of Irrfan Khan

India woke up to yet another day of quarantine-- the routine was going to be the same, the waiting was going to be the same; that's when a familiar face, a beloved face made way to a headline that was unfathomable in these testing times-- "Irrfan Khan passes away at 53". And just like that, the hearts of many were shattered. 

Irrfan Khan filed hope in a dooming cinema where creativity was taking a backseat in favour of "masala" movies. A world without another Irrfan Khan masterpiece is something we were collectively not ready for. 

While he may not be with us in body, he has left behind a legacy of versatile performances that will forever remain imprinted in our hearts and minds. The loss is real-- for his family, fans, and the world of cinema for rarely is an actor born who can talk more with his eyes. 

Soon after the grim news broke out, friends and fans took to Twitter to condole the death of Irrfan Khan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he will be remembered for his “versatile performances”.

“Irrfan Khan’s demise is a loss to the world of cinema and theatre. He will be remembered for his versatile performances across different mediums. My thoughts are with his family, friends and admirers. May his soul rest in peace,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

The 53-year-old actor died after a prolonged battle with cancer. 

“It’s saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him passing away. Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him,” his spokesperson said in a statement. 

“Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, he left for heaven abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and hope that he is at peace. And to resonate and part with his words he had said ‘As if I was tasting life for the first time, the magical side of it’,” the statement said.
