MUMBAI: The wait is finally over! Deepika Padukone starrer 'Chhapaak' has been the talk of the town time and again and now the trailer is finally here. What can we say, we are speechless!

The trailer traces the journey of Malti's (Deepika Padukone) and how she emerged victorious after all her life struggles. The girl, who starts hating herself after her face gets destroyed because of acid, begins to love herself more. She, however, does not sit silently cursing her destiny, instead, she fights back, leads a campaign in the country that will prevent any future acid attacks.

Besides Malti, Vikrant Massey as Anmol helps her in this journey. We can also see the love brewing between the two in the trailer.

The movie 'Chhapaak' is the real-life story of Laxmi Agarwal who was attacked back in 2005. The attacker was a 32-year-old male who made advances towards her but got rejected. Agarwal bravely survived the unfortunate incident and then started a campaign called "Stop Acid Sale" so as to prevent any future attacks.

Deepika as Malti shines throughout the trailer. Her pain, her anger, and even her happiness can be seen in her eyes. On the other hand, Massey gives a supporting hand to Deepika's character in a brilliant way. With series like 'Mirzapur' and 'Criminal Justice', we do not think that he has to prove his excellence in the acting field.

Padukone had to wear prosthetics to play the role of Malti in this Meghna Gulzar directorial. Referring to the movie as the "toughest", Deepika said, "I'd say it's the toughest movie I have ever done. Not because of the role, but because of the prosthetics. I am extremely patient person, but I had to dig deep to go through that every single day for 42 days."

Well, fans would be having goosebumps while watching the trailer (we definitely had!) and cannot wait to see the whole heart-wrenching and victorious story. With Meghna's last release 'Raazi' that literally won all the awards, she is back with another masterpiece.

'Chhapaak' will hit the theatres on 10th January 2020.
