PANAJI: The Goa's chief minister's office said on Wednesday that there has been no shut down of any educational institution in the state. This announcement was to counter false information that was spread through a fake screenshot of CM Pramod Sawant's tweet that said that the education departments will remain closed due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
Clearing the information in a tweet, the Goa CMO wrote, "A fake screenshot of Hon'ble CM's tweet is circulating on social media. No such tweet has been made by the CM. Screenshots may be cross-checked with official Twitter and Facebook profiles of the CM and CMO for their authenticity before being forwarded."

The screenshot of the fake tweet of Sawant was surfacing the internet in the state and people considered it to be true as the situation across the whole world is degrading due to the novel COVID-19. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the deadly virus a pandemic.
The fake tweet read: "Due to the dangerous outbreak of COVID-19, also known as coronavirus, the Education Department has declared that all educational institutions must be shut so as to prevent the spreading of the virus."
So far, the state has not reported a single case of the coronavirus. Over the last few weeks, nearly 20 people were quarantined but all of them have tested negative.
