A new Android electronic ticketing machine will be provided to the conductors of all the buses running in UP within the next 6 months. This was made official by Raj Shekhar (Managing director of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation) on Thursday.
The machine is going to handle credit, debit and smart cards making it really convenient for the commuters.
The MD also said:
"It will help in the improvement of the revenue of UPSRTC and give additional comfort to passengers,"
"The move will also help in data collection,"
"About 15,000 such machines will be inducted in the next three to six months, covering all buses and routes. "
The board also came to a decision about the fare which they named as 'telescopic fare system' which means that the customers going to long distances will pay a little less than what they pay now. This will be launched as a trial first and will last for 90 days.
