PAF's F-16 Fighter Jet Crashes Near Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Air Force's (PAF) F-16 fighter jet gets crashed on Wednesday near Shakarparian in Islamabad. The accident took place during the rehearsals for the 23rd March parade as confirmed by an air force spokesperson. 

Immediately after the crash, rescue teams rushed to the site while Air Headquarters ordered a board of inquiry so as to find out the cause of the accident, reported by the Gulf news. The statement said, "A board of inquiry has been ordered by Air Headquarters to determine the cause of the incident."

There have been many footages posted on social media that might have been shot from nearby buildings. These footages showed that moment the jet came down followed by smoke and flames billowing into the sky. 

The pilot of the ill-fated F-16, Noman Akram, was martyred in the accident. The fate of the co-pilot is not clear for now.

Shakarparian is a hill and famous picnic spot for residents of Pakistan's national capital.
