Amazon has added a new feature to the Amazon Alexa which makes Alexa capable of helping you in reminding when and which medicine to take according to your prescriptions.

You will now be able to use this feature via voice too. Just ask your Alexa the following:

  • ‘Alexa, manage my medication’
  • ‘Alexa, refill my prescription’.

Amazon on Tuesday published it in their blog that a user needs to enable the "Giant Eagle Pharmacy" skill while linking their account accordingly. These voice commands are going to work only after the setup we just mentioned is done.

Amazon has partnered with Omnicell to launch this and this is already available to Giant Eagle Pharmacy customers in the US.

Amazon also talked about the features that include safety & privacy and told

“These medication management features use multiple layers of verification to ensure that only you are able to access your prescription information via Alexa”. According to the company, “If the voice profile or personal passcode does not match with the account, the information will not be relayed. Additionally … interactions with this skill are also redacted in the Alexa app to maintain privacy”.

In the world full of competition Google Assistant by Google, Cortana by Microsoft and Amazon Alexa by Amazon, everyone is adding features as per the needs of the users. Alexa has added this one and this is going to be helpful for a number of people. There are people who forget to take their medications on time and this feature is definitely going to come in great use for such people.
