CHANDIGARH: Punjab's CM Amarinder Singh has sought a comprehensive economic package from the Centre to ease the hardships that are resulted from the novel coronavirus to establishments across sectors and to the most vulnerable people, in addition of daily wage workers, in the state.

A detailed memorandum has been submitted by the Chief Minister to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in this regard, requesting economic support from the government to business enterprises, MSMEs, as well as organized and unorganized labor in Punjab.

The CM has sought an immediate extension of the financial year from March 31 to April 30, after assessing the crisis that the country is in, for the worst-hit MSME and tourism and hospitality sectors, along with major interventions in healthcare and pharma sectors.
