New Delhi: The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, has asked Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to prove majority through a floor test in the Maharashtra assembly on Wednesday.

SC has also asked the Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari to administer the oath taking ceremony of all elected members on Wednesday itself.

SC said, "The entire exercise has to be completed by 5 pm."

A bench comprising Justices N V Ramana, Ashok Bhushan and Sanjiv Khanna also said the entire proceedings has to be telecast live. Voting in the assembly shall not be on the basis of secret ballot, it said.

The governor will also appoint a pro-tem speaker who will administer oath to the newly elected members.

Just after the SC order, a series of meetings have been scheduled by political parties. Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs will meet at the Wankhede Stadium at 9pm tonight. It comes a day after the Maharashtra Progressive Front comprising NCP, Shiv Sena and the Congress paraded their 162 MLAs at Hotel Hyat last night.

NCP patriarch Sharad Pawar and chief spokesperson Nawab Malik arrive at Hotel Sofitel to meet their party MLAs. Sources have informed that Sharad Pawar, Jayant Patil, Supriya Sule and Prafull Patel met Ajit Pawar to bring him on their side.
