How can a marriage fall apart? Lack of compatibility between groom and bride, right? Not in all the cases, apparently. A couple in Gujarat had to call off their wedding, and it wasn’t due to the lack of compatibility. It happened because the groom’s father and bride’s mother were too compatible it seems. The unusual duo eloped before the couple’s wedding could take place! The wedding was scheduled for February’s second week, but the middle-aged couple is nowhere to be found. It has been 10 days since.
The groom’s father left his residence in Katargam at the same time when the bride’s mother disappeared from her house in Navsari. There are strong suspicions that the duo has fled together. Their relatives and family are beyond embarrassed and have filed a missing person report with the police.
The couple which was supposed to be married got engaged a year ago, meaning the wedding preparations were happening since then. They belonged to the same community and had the blessings of the elderly of the family before the engagement took place. However, the recent happening has left everyone stunned.
Ratnesh (name changed), who is the father of the groom dealt in textile and properties as a businessman went MIA around 10th January. He belongs to the Amreli district and is a member of a political party. He had met the bride’s mother Sheila (name changed) when they were young and knew her since then. Sources close to the family revealed that they lived next door in Katargram and were friends in their earlier days.
A close acquaintance to both the families said, “They knew each other since they lived in same society. Some of their close friends informed us after they eloped that they had a relationship in the past too. However, Swati got engaged with her current husband in Navsari.”
Sheila is from the area of Bhavnagar, who got married to a diamond artisan turned broker. The aforementioned news has become the talk of social media.
Pictures of the unusual pair are also being shared nationwide through social networking.
