Vaishno Devi Yatra Gets Suspended Due To Coronavirus Outbreak

SRINAGAR: Following the coronavirus pandemic that has posed a threat to the entire humanity, Jammu and Kashmir government has suspended Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra. 

Rohit Kansal, the spokesperson of the government, tweeted on Wednesday, "Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra has been closed from today. All interstate buses, incoming and outgoing from J&K banned from today."

On Tuesday, the government appealed to all the pilgrims to postpone their visit to the shrine due to the fast-spreading of the deadly virus. 

Vaishno Devi is one of the most important and popular shrines of the country. On a daily basis, thousands of pilgrims arrive to seek the blessings of the goddess. 

Earlier on Sunday, the Vaishno Devi Shrine Board circulated an advisory asking the NRIs and foreigners not to visit the holy place for 28 days after landing in India.
