Total Coronavirus Cases In India Now At 11,993; 392 Deaths

NEW DELHI: Confirmed COVID-19 cases in India rose up to 11,933 as 1,118 more people were detected of having the virus in the last 24 hours, that duration also observed 77 new deaths. Now the total deaths in the country due to the virus is at 392. Meanwhile, over 1,300 individuals have also recovered from this life-threatening virus.

The Indian Council of Medical Research or ICMR reported that it took around 2,74,599 sample for testing of coronavirus on Wednesday, April 15. The council released a statement which said, "At least 11,297 individuals have been confirmed positive among suspected cases and contacts of known positive cases in India." Out of the previous samples collected by the ICMR, 28,941 in number, 953 were found to be COVID-19 positive.

Apart from this ICMR issued a list of 176 additional government labs and 78 private labs for the testing of coronavirus. It includes 8 in Delhi, 17 in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, 15 In UP, 12 In Karnataka, 10 In Kerala, 9 In MP and Gujarat each, 8 in Rajasthan, 7 in Andhra Pradesh and 5 in Assam and Bihar each.

The government also released a list of 170 districts which are the hotspots for the coronavirus. All the 6 metro cities and including other major cities also became part of this list, all the 9 districts in the capital city of Delhi are a part of the list. Andhra Pradesh has 11 hotspots, Bihar has 11, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir and MP have 5 each. Meanwhile, Haryana and West Bengal have 4, Uttar Pradesh has 9 and Maharashtra has 11 and so on.

As per the figures released by the Health Ministry, Maharashtra is the city with the most cases at 2,687 and 178 deaths. Delhi is right after Maharashtra in terms of most number of cases, it currently has 1,561 cases and 30 deaths. Other states like Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan with 1,204 and 1,005 cases respectively.
