NEW DELHI: This morning after Diwali the air quality was at 306 for Delhi and 356 for Noida. In Gurugram it fell to 279 after Diwali celebrations.

According to SAFAR i.e the System of Air Quality & Weather Forecasting and Research the air quality of Delhi is extremely poor today.

SAFAR said:

  • "Although the air quality is predicted to be touching SEVERE levels in the wee hours on October 28 the peak level of particulate matter (PM) 2.5 is likely to be lowest,"

The pollution in the air is equivalent to smoking almost 20 Cigarettes per day.

The most polluted locations are

  • Pusa
  • Rohini
  • Wazirpur
  • DU (North Campus)
  • Punjabi Bagh
  • Jahangirpuri

and the least polluted areas are

  • Ayananag
  • Gurugram
  • Nehru Stadium.

The major reason behind this is the emission of crackers. In spite of being banned in many areas people still got the crackers from other areas and then burned them. This is why the air quality got worse and according to SAFAR, the air condition is going to become worse in the upcoming days.
