MUMBAI: Two big names were announced as the ambassadors for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new initiative #BharatKiLaxmi. The initiative comes with an aim to promote women empowerment. It would highlight the outstanding work that women have done in different fields across the country.
Badminton player PV Sindhu and actor Deepika Padukone are the flag bearers for this movement. They have joined hands for a promotional video for Bharat Ki Laxmi. In the video, both the stars can be seen telling their stories of struggle before becoming the icon that they are today. They also encourage people to appreciate those women who have done something for society. PM Narendra Modi’s voice can also be heard in the video speaking about the same topic.
In his monthly radio program, Mann Ki Baat, Modi talked about the movement saying, “Encouraging Bharat ki Laxmi means strengthening the path to success of the country and its people.”
Sharing the video on her Twitter handle, Deepika wrote, “This Diwali, let us throw light on & celebrate the contribution & accomplishments of the women of our country! #BharatKiLaxmi.” The badminton player too shared the same video captioning it, “Societies grow when women are empowered and their accomplishments are given a place of pride! I support PM @narendramodi ji #BharatKiLaxmi movement. It celebrates extraordinary achievements of extraordinary women of India. This Diwali, let’s celebrate womanhood.”
Replying to Sindhu’s words, PM wrote, “India’s Nari Shakti epitomises talent and tenacity, determination and dedication. Our ethos has always taught us to strive for women empowerment. Through this video, @Pvsindhu1 and @deepikapadukone excellently convey the message of celebrating #BharatKiLaxmi.”
