NEW DELHI: There was a rise in the cases of the novel coronavirus by 1,718 in a day which has led to the overall tally of India to be at 33,055, as per the data provided by the Union Health Ministry. The death toll also rose as 66 individuals lost their lives to this virus. The total death toll of the country is now at 1,074 as per the dashboard of the health ministry at 8 am.
However, there is a rise in the number of patients who have been cured by now as well. There are 8,324 individuals who have made a recovery and got discharged from the hospital.
Maharashtra continues to remain the worst-hit state as it is nearing towards the 10,000 mark, in terms of the people who have been affected by the virus. It currently has 9,915 cases and has observed 432 deaths. Gujarat is the second state to have the most cases with 4,082, following closely is the country's capital, Delhi with 3,439 cases.
From the 71 fatalities which were recorded since Tuesday evening, 31 were from Maharashtra, 19 from Gujarat, 6 from MP and 5 from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan both. Two were reported from West Bengal, whereas Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Tamil Nadu reported 1 death each.
