NEW DELHI: There are now 2,46,628 coronavirus cases in totality in India, as per the latest info released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare today morning i.e. June 7. The death toll has also rapidly increased as the total is 6,929 now.
In the duration of the last 24 hours, 9,971 new coronavirus cases were observed in the nation along with 287 fatalities. The website of the Health Ministry also revealed that the active cases stand at 1,20,406 and other 1,19,292 have been recovered.
The website of ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) reveals that more than 45 lakh individuals have been tested for COVID-19 has been conducted yet. And as of the past 24 hours, 1.37 lakh people were tested for the virus.
Maharashtra is still the worst affected state with the most number of cases (82,698). It is followed by Tamil Nadu (30,152), then comes the national capital, Delhi (27,654), Gujarat (19,592) and eventually Rajasthan (10,331).
From tomorrow, i.e. June 8, more exemptions will be seen as the lockdown is gradually being lifted. Public places like restaurants, shopping malls and religious places are getting re-opened. Although strict restrictions are to remain until June 30 in the areas which have been worse affected by the virus in the country.
On a worldwide level, the total coronavirus cases are at 68.55 lakh and the death toll is at 3.98, as per the date of John Hopkins University.
India has surpassed Spain to become the 5th country to have the most cases of coronavirus in the world. First is the US, then Brazil, Russia and the UK.
