NEW DELHI: Over the last 5 days, total coronavirus cases getting reported have been over the 9,000-mark in India. The total tally of the nation is currently at 2,66,598. Apart from Maharashtra being the state to report the highest number of cases, other states like West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Delhi also saw a huge spike in the duration of 1 day.
The death toll caused by the virus reached the 7,500-mark. As much has 266 fatalities got recorded yesterday i.e. Monday, June 8. The total fatality rate of the nation now stands at 7,466 lives.
As per the data released by the website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the active cases for coronavirus patients has increased to 1,29,917. However, the recovery rate has also been great as over 48% people to this date have been cured fully and released from medical facilities.
Mumbai has become the very first city of India to have more than 50,000 cases. In the last 24 hours, around 1,311 new cases emerged in the city. The total tally of Maharashtra has also increased and is 88,528. The death toll is also alarmingly high as 3,000 individuals have succumbed to death due to the virus in the state.
Tamil Nadu, the second most affected state also observed a rapid increase. More than 1,500 individuals were found to have the virus in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 tally of the state rose to 33,229.
Delhi has also been observing a spike in its count for affected patients. As many as 1,007 positive cases were detected in a single day. The total tally of cases in the national capital rose to 29,943. The death toll is also on a sharp rise as the capital city has 824 fatalities now.
