Facebook is rolling out a new feature called the "Preventative Health". This feature is going to remind you to book a flu shot, get your blood tested and even check your cholesterol. This update is spreading in the US as of now and it may be extended everywhere soon.

Facebook introduced the blood donation feature in 2017 in India which helped in matching the donors with the blood banks. This was also introduced in the US earlier this year. This feature turned out to be a success. This can be the reason for the launch of the Preventative Health feature.

This tool will encourage you to book appointments and attend scans to make sure your health is perfectly fine. These regular tests will be able to detect problems early which can help you in taking an action on it before it turns into anything serious.

The test suggestions are going to be based upon your age and sex. The tests will be focussed to detect early signs of heart disease and for the signs of cancer. The application will allow you to book an appointment at the right time and then remind you about the appointment close to the date.

Facebook says

  • "Your activity within Preventive Health will not be posted publicly or shared with others,"
  • "Information you provide is securely stored and access is restricted to a group of people at Facebook who work on the product or maintain our systems,"
  • "We don’t share personal information about your activity in Preventive Health with third parties, such as health organizations or insurance companies, so it can’t be used for purposes like insurance eligibility."
