LOS ANGELES: Nominated under six categories and bagged four, the South Korean film 'Parasite' surely created history at the 92nd Academy Awards. Not only this the Bong Joon Ho directorial becomes the first non-English language film to have won an Oscar for best picture and what's even more enjoyable is the sweetest reaction and acceptance speech of the director himself.
While receiving the prestigious awards (one for Best Picture and Best Direction), Bong Joon Ho mentioned how honorable it was to have nominated alongside legend directors like Martin Scorsese (The Irishman) and Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood). He said, "When I was in school I studied Martin Scorsese’s films. Just to be honored was a huge honor. I never thought I would win. When people in the US were not familiar with my films, Quentin always put my films on his list." He wished to have "Texas chain saw" so that all the nominees could share. SWEET!
As we said, his words are definitely sweet but what became the highlight of the whole event was his beautiful reaction or shall we say reactions after his big wins. His admiration for the precious trophy could be seen clearly on his face, in his eyes and expressions. Twitteratis are going AWW over him and are applauding him for the much-deserved victory. Here are some of the tweets:
Later, he also posed with two of his trophies and making them kiss, at the post-ceremony press. "It's fu**ing crazy", he said in the excitement that followed numerous laughter and applause.
'Parasite' is a dark comic thriller and now is the first South Korean film to have won an Academy Award (this one won 4 though!). It also bagged Oscars for Best International Feature Film and Best Original Screenplay.
