Amid excitement for the Tamil remake of the hit Telugu movie Arjun Reddy, another release date is being speculated. Titled Adithya Varma, the movie was scheduled to release on November 8. However, Twitter has been flooded with worried fans anticipating a one week shift in the original date.

This one week delay may be due to the failure of Bigil. The movie has failed to recover investments and to give it extended life, Arjun Reddy’s Tamil version may be postponed.

Arjun Reddy’s story has now reached most of India. First, with the original Telugu movie that stars Vijay Deverakonda in the title role, and next, with the Hindi version called Kabir Singh starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. Now, the romantic drama film is all set to release in Tamil.

Adithya Varma will mark the debut of Dhruv, Chiyaan Vikram’s son. His lady love in the movie will be played by Banita Sandhu. Directed by debutant Gireesaaya, the movie also sees Priya Anand and Anbu Thasan is pivotal roles.

The controversy that surrounded the 2019 Hindi release ‘Kabir Singh’ does not seem to affect the excitement for the Tamil version.

Although Kabir Singh gave Shahid Kapoor one of his most memorable roles, the movie failed to sway the Hindi audience. People were put off with crass scenes and criticized the makers for glorifying toxic masculinity. Nevertheless, the earnings of the movie made it a box office hit.

The postponed release date will not be the first problem the makers of Adithya Varma have run into. Initially, the film was directed by Bala and shot between March and September 2018. In February 2019, creative differences arose between Bala and E4 Entertainment, following which E4 Entertainment released an official statement stating that the entire movie will be re-shot as they were not satisfied with Bala’s final cut.

Bala had a different tale to tell. He said that quitting the project was his own decision "in order to safeguard creative freedom" because he was asked to make changes. This was a first for the Tamil film industry where the producer refuses to release the film because of the unsatisfactory final cut despite the completion of the film.
