Remembering Ajith’s Shiva And Vishnu As Villain Completes 17 Years

Remember when Ajith walks out as the innocent Vishnu, visibly handicapped, confused, and Paavam and mid-walk gains swagger as he transforms into the confident Shiva? What a scene!

Today, the hit Tamil action masala film completes 17 years. Written and directed by K. S. Ravikumar, Villain hit the screens on 4th November 2002.  

After 17 years, Villain continues to be in the hearts of fans. Ajith’s performance as the twins Shiva and Vishnu earned him his second Filmfare Award for Best Actor. According to critics, “Ajith scored on both fronts”.

The film was a success and gave Ajith two of his most memorable roles. The movie was dubbed into Hindi as Jeet: The Mission of Success.

The movie follows the story of identical twins Shiva and Vishnu. Shiva, the elder of the two overhears his parents’ plot to kill Vishnu, who has a mild intellectual disability. The brothers run away to another city. What ensues is a tale of dons, thieving, and love. The movie incorporates the tale of Robin Hood and gives it the Indian twist.

Apart from Ajith, the film stars Meena as Thangam, Kiran as Lavanya, Sujhata as Lalitha, and Ramesh Khanna as Shiva’s friend amongst others.

The superstar will be seen in the much anticipated Valimai. The movie is currently in its pre-production stage. Ajith Kumar will be playing a cop and seems to be ditching his classic salt and pepper look for his new avatar. The movie will be directed by H. Vinoth, who also made the Tamil version of the Hindi movie ‘Pink’.
