MUMBAI: Director Neeraj Pandey has left some easter eggs for all of us in his recently released espionage thriller web series 'Special OPS'. The filmmaker has actually paid tribute to Bollywood through naming every episode in the series after all his favourite work from the Indian film industry!
Pandey has co-directed the series along with Shivam Nair. The series is 8 episodes long and is available on Hotstar. It showcases the role of Indian intelligence during real terror attacks which have been faced by our nation in the last 19 year. It also focuses on the 26/11 incident. Shivam Nair has previously directed projects like 'Sea Hawks' (TV show) and 'Ahista Ahista'. (2006 film)
On being asked, Neeraj said, "Shivam and I have directed parts of every episode but have shared credits between us -- where every alternate episode is credited. Every episode is like a mini-film and we have treated it with the same scale. Small trivia -- all the episodes are names of films I have grown up on and I deeply love."
Nair has directed odd-numbered episodes i.e. episodes 1,3,5 and 7. Meanwhile, Pandey worked on episodes 2,4,6 and 8 i.e. even-numbered episodes.
The name of all the episodes are titled, 'Kaagaz Ke Phool', 'Guide', 'Mughal-E-Azam', 'Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahi', 'Chaudvin Ka Chand', 'Qurbani', 'Shatranj Ke Khiladi' and 'Sholay'. Making them all the films which are Neeraj Pandey's most favourite.
