MUMBAI: 'Mahabharat' is all set to be made into a Bollywood movie and actress Deepika Padukone is ready to fill in the shoes of Draupadi. The movie will be told from the perspective of the central female character. The Chhapaak actress will not only act in the movie but also has joined hands with Madhu Mantena to co-produce it.
Deepika has acted in several period films like ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Padmaavat’ and has certainly aced it in the genre. Deepika shared her excitement and referred this part as the role of a lifetime.
She said, “I'm absolutely thrilled and honoured to be playing the role of Draupadi. I truly believe that it is the role of a lifetime. While the Mahabharata is popularly known for its mythological tales and cultural influence, many of life's lessons are also derived from the Mahabharata but most often from its men. Telling it with this fresh and new perspective will not only be interesting but also very significant.”

Deepika turned producer with her recent venture, 'Chhapaak' which is based on the real-life story of acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. Now, 'Mahabharat' will be her second movie as a producer.
Highlighting the specialty of this upcoming movie, filmmaker Madhu Mantena said, “While we have all consumed the Mahabharata all our lives, the uniqueness of our film is seeing the same story from the point of view of Draupadi, who is one of the most significant heroines in our country's cultural history.” He then further emphasized on the importance of Deepika’s presence in the movie. he said, “Deepika is not just the biggest Indian actress today but someone who can take this narrative across borders. If it weren't with her, we would not be making this film on such an ambitious scale.”
The movie will be divided into several parts and the first part will hit the big screens in Diwali 2021. We are sure that no other actress would be as perfect for the role of Draupadi as Deepika is. Also, we are excited to see what other actors will join the movie.
