MUMBAI: Actress Ananya Panday, who made a fairly-good impression with her debut 'Student Of The Year 2', has recently named her biggest competition in Bollywood. She is none other than another star kid, Janhvi Kapoor.
While being in an episode of 'Starry Nights GEN Y', Ananya was asked about her biggest competition in the glamorous industry, to which she instantly said, "Janhvi Kapoor is my biggest competition in this film industry."
Late Sridevi's daughter Janhvi Kapoor started her Bollywood career with 'Dhadak' opposite Ishaan Khatter in 2018 under Karan Johar productions. Then in 2019, another star kid (Panday) was introduced to the audience with 'SOTY 2' obviously produced by Johar again.
Ananya again talked about her views on nepotism (remember her struggle story and Siddhant Chaturvedi) and said, "I still agree that we have an advantage and we get to meet people. We have easier access to people from the industry as we have grown up around them. But now that I've got that chance, it's unfair for me to waste it. I want to make my father proud."
She then went further and listed B-town celebs who have made themselves on their own and other star kids who have made big due to their talents. She said, "There are so many examples of such talented people who have not come from the film background like Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma and then there are actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt who have come from film families and done so well. So, it all comes down to the audience."
The 'Pati, Patni Aur Woh' star also recalled the first time when she auditioned and got rejected. She said, "I remember when 'Aladdin' had come to India, there were a bunch of people who auditioned. We had to record a video, which I did on my phone. I had worn this red outfit and had to read the dialogues for Jasmine. The scene went really well, but then they also asked us to sing and I can't sing to even save my life. So I really got rejected."
On the work front, Ananya will be next seen in 'Khaali Peeli' opposite Ishaan Janhvi Kapoor's first co-star and will also be working in a Shakun Batra's untitled film that stars Sidhant and Deepika Padukone.
