MUMBAI: Alia Bhatt's attachment and protective nature for her sister Shaheen Bhatt is well known to all. The sisters recently attended Barkha Dutt's event 'We The Women' where the actor broke down after she started talking about her sister's fight with depression and how she failed to comprehend her.
Alia felt terrible about the fact that she did not understand the gravity of her sister's situation though she lived with her all her life. She only came to understand after she read her book "I've Never Been (Un)happier". She said, "I felt terrible as a sister. I didn’t put myself out there enough to understand her. I have only believed that she is the most brilliant person in my family. To some extent, she has never believed that about her own self but that always broke my heart. I was sensitive but I feel guilty for not understanding as much as I should have."
The Raazi actor also took to her Instagram handle and showered love towards her sister. She shared a picture with Shaheen along with her book and cheered for her by writing, "Here comes the sun. No better feeling than talking about your sister's first book! @shaheenb you are brilliant and I love you! Thank you @barkha.dutt for the platform! This will truly be a memory for lifeeeee!!!"
Previously in an interview, the star also revealed that though she hasn't had depression she did had anxiety bouts. She said, "I haven’t been depressed but I’ve had bouts of anxiety. It comes and goes. It’s been happening quite a bit since the past five to six months. It’s not like an anxiety attack but I just feel low." Later she gave all the credits to Shaheen and her book that helped her get rid of her anxiety.
On the work front, Alia has three big releases for next year- 'Brahmastra', 'RRR' and 'Sadak 2'.
