Prayagraj: The casual labourers, engaged for better management of the 43-day annual religious event 'Magh Mela', will also get an opportunity to let their kids study under qualified teachers. For the first time, the Magh Mela will witness two makeshift schools being set up in the tent city by the Uttar Pradesh Education Department.
According to the education ministry, the objective of this step is to impart quality education to kids of workers who belong to weaker section of society, who come with their parents from different states to the Magh Mela.Many children do accompany their parents who work as labourers in Magh Mela. These families along with their children come from states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.
Block Education Officer Santosh Yadav said, "The schools will have children of age group between 6 and 14 years. There would be no periodical assessments. The education department would also see that children get nutritious mid day meal. The department will make these arrangements in Magh Mela 2020 for the children of those labourers who would offer their services here."
There were five schools set up in Kumbh 2019 also, but this time only two schools would be set up by the department.
