The Indira Gandhi National Open University, most commonly known as IGNOU has come up with a new method to reach out to the far away candidates of their university. The Web Enabled Academic Support or WEAS is the university’s own portal that will aid the students.

The support portal will assist the students with exams, pre-exams, learning, programme induction, study material for supplementary studies, assignments and so on. WEAS can also help students through their pre-entry and admission procedures and even counselling.

Features like videos, discussion forums, quiz, course material made for self-learning have also been added to the portal to make the practice of studying more interesting. More unconventional yet engaging ideas like, coming together of students and teachers on a single platform and learning as per self-stride have been introduced in the support portal.

IGNOU has also stated that the students are eligible to access this service without any additional fee and absolutely free of cost.

The official statement also mentioned, “It will not only save a lot of money spent on the counseling sessions, but it will also ensure timely academic support by the programme coordinators directly to the learners by the IGNOU faculty.”
