SAAND KI AANKH- MOVIE REVIEW
Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar starrer, Saand Ki Aankh is based on the real-life story of Tomar daadis. It is the story of two old-aged shooter women who fight against all the societal norms in order to excel in their skill.
In the movie, we will see Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in never-seen-before avatars. They play the roles of 60-plus women, much older to their own selves. These daadis hit the bull’s eye while trying their hand in shooting for the very first time. They are the perfect sharpshooters without any prior training and YES, this is a true story!
Both of them are supported by a young shooting trainer and he is the one who helps them enter into competitive tournaments. Their journey of becoming the shooting champions is not be smooth and they face a lot of speed breakers. These breakers include mockery of their age as well background and besides this, they also face the stereotypical thinking of people that guns can only be related to a man.
The major problem that is felt by almost everybody is it's miscasting. Pannu and Pednekar both the actresses are in their early thirties, so how can you give them the roles of twice their age? The movie highly promotes feminism but is itself ironical in that sense. The lead actresses' prosthetics and unnatural grey hair are simply too unreal and distracting.
Bhumi and Taapsee both have acted well enough to portray their characters of Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar but you will fail to give them enough credits as your mind would wander around the poor casting. Actor Vineet Kumar Singh shines with his character as a young trainer. The story would seem unbelievable if it wasn't a true story. But, we have to give credit to the makers for showing us such an inspirational movie mixed with entertainment.
The movie has already hit the big screens on 25th October and will clash with big movies like Housefull 4 and Made in China. Saand Ki Aankh misses it's bull's eye but isn't far from it. Book your tickets now!
