Here’s a Step by Step Natural Pre-Bridal Skincare Routine

he lehenga is selected, the jewellery is in place. All dances are well coordinated and the house is buzzing with excitement. Everywhere the bride goes, cameras follow, trying to capture memories to be cherished forever. Here, you don’t want your skin to break loose, giving way to bad pictures that will forever remind you of the pimple you had on your wedding day. Imagine the horror!

Just before the wedding, it is not advisable to use new chemical products. If not suited, they may take away your natural glow and leave you fuming at the last hour. The best thing for you to do is, sit back, relax, and let nature do its job. Now is the right time to adopt the age old beauty remedies your grandma has been giving you.

Instead of reaching out to harsh chemicals right before your big day, go natural with the following skin care routine:

1. HONEY AND SUGAR

Add sugar to a generous amount of honey to make your very own natural scrub. Apply the mixture in a circular motion to exfoliate your skin and rid it of unwanted impurities. Honey is an antibacterial agent that prevents the occurrence of zits and pimples.

That’s not all! Honey also has excellent moisturizing properties that will leave your skin rejuvenated, soft, and glowing.

2. GRAM FLOUR AND TURMERIC

Besan and Haldi are the staple skincare solutions in most Indian homes. While turmeric is a strong antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties, gram flour is known to cleanse the skin by naturally exfoliating it and removing dead skin cells which results in a naturally glowing complexion.

Mix the turmeric powder with the gram flour and add milk to form a paste. Apply the mask evenly on the face and neck; leave it for 15-20 minutes and voila! Say hello to a revitalized skin.

3. LEMON AND SUGAR

Lemon acts as a natural bleacher that helps get rid of dead skin cells and also aids in removing a tan. Rich in Vitamin C, it has been clinically proven to interrupt the action of the enzyme Tyrosinase, which in turn stimulates the melanin production of our skin.

One of nature’s best skin brightening agents- lemon, when mixed with sugar can do wonders for your natural sheen. Mix lemon juice and sugar and scrub it in a circular motion. Leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water for glowing skin.

4. Potato

Our favourite vegetable- the versatile and humble potato, when not busy being a French fry, helps in getting a glowing skin.  The juice from a raw potato is rich in Vitamin C and has mild bleaching properties.  Also, its starch is ideal for removing dark spots on the skin.

Grate a raw potato, add a few drops of rose water and mix it with honey. Apply the mix all over face and neck and leave it for 20 minutes and wash it off with cold water for best results.

5. Aloe Vera

Calling Aloe Vera a miracle plant won’t be pushing it too far. It helps in treating acne and sunburns, it reduces stretch marks, it has anti-aging and healing properties, it is a great natural skin moisturizer, it aides in getting radiant skin you get the gist. Basically, Aloe Vera is an important natural ingredient for healthy, glowing skin.

Rub the Aloe Vera gel on your face and neck, leave it for 20-30 minutes before washing it off.

Don’t let skin troubles get in the middle of your big day. A naturally glowing skin will add on to your inner happiness and confidence. After all, how we feel inside is what reflects on the outside.
